Anastasia

Summary:

Rating: G

Could I have watched this with my Dad? : Sure!

Could I have watched this with my Mom? : Yes!

Language: None.

Sex/Romance: No sex, but some romance (SPOILER ends in an elopement SPOILER)

Violence/Gore: There is some abstract allusion to violence, and then there is Rasputin. His scenes are just...freaky. If you are worried about your children possibly being spooked, I would take a look at his scenes (like this main one) first to get an idea. No gore.

Music: Once Upon a December floored me, nearly made me cry. Also, it came surprisingly early in the movie. I always expected it to be at the climax, or at least somewhere near closer to the end.

Did I feel the need to leave the lights off and sit in silence afterward? : No.

Was there a food pairing? : Pizza!

Thoughts:

  • Anastasia was a strong character.

  • The story was a fun adventure, even though its sad roots are true.

  • Rasputin creeped the heck out of me and didn't seem to fit in with the style of the movie.

  • Also, every time anyone said Rasputin I had to resist the urge to burst out singing

  • The deaths of the Romanov family were completely avoided.

Was this a good use of a night with the house to myself? : Yes!

In the End: 4 out of 5 stars. Look Rasputin really creeped me out, OK? Buuuuuuut...nevermind. 5 out of 5 because Once Upon a December.
