Total Hours to Read: 26 hours and 45 minutes
--Average pages per minute for the series: 1.715
Romance: Over the course of 8 books, there was really nothing.
Language: D'arvit (a swear word in Gnommish), and versions of, (I kid you not), actual, literal, "bleep," are the only "language" throughout the series.
Violence/Gore: Fights take place (repeatedly) over the course of the series, but there is minimal graphic description of gore or anything. One moment in "The Atlantis Complex" was a bit more descriptive of some deaths by fire, but it was only a sentence.
Thoughts: I think if I had read this when I was younger I would have LOVED it, but as it is I still really enjoyed the series and liked it as a fun read! The humor throughout was fantastic, the characters were developed really well, and the plots consistently caught my interest. The first few books seemed to pretty closely follow the same form, but once the author broke the mold around the 4th book things got even better, with more detailed and intricate plot lines, character motivations, twists, etc.
The series is a lot of fun, and I think would make a great read-aloud for some younger kids.
In the end: 4 out of 5 stars, each book was a fun, new ride!
