Summary:

Rating: R

Could I have watched this with my Dad? : Yeah, but he might not have cared for it.

Could I have watched this with my Mom? : Nuh-uh.

Language: Yep. F-bombs and beyond.

Sex/Romance: Intimations towards rape.

Violence/Gore: Yes. Plenty of both. (Spoiler Alert? >>>>>THERE IS A MURDERED DOG SHOWN.<<<<<)

Intense moments? : Yeah, but I just didn't really get into it that much.

Music: Alexandre Desplat wrote the score for this movie. Very dramatic music that I felt almost outshone the movie.

Did I feel the need to leave the lights off and sit in silence afterwards? : Nope. As soon as the credits started rolling I flipped on the lights.

Did I crank the volume? : No, it stayed at -24 the whole time.

Was there a food pairing? : Yes. A slice of salami, a bowl of EXTREME BUTTER popcorn, and the real treat...fresh licorice!

Thoughts: Honestly, as soon as the movie finished I said "meh." I felt like the music was wonderful but was too good for the movie. I had a hard time getting past so much stupidity and weakness on the characters' parts. I yelled at them many times, and by the end I just kept laughing. ...Pretty sure that's not what they were going for. I felt like they tried to make the viewer feel sympathy for the antagonist in the end, and honestly it felt so forced and dumb. I felt absolutely no sympathy. I love Bruce Willis, though, and while I found it a bit predictable, there were a few fun twists. Some of the action was fun, but it felt like almost like they were trying to make an action flick into more than just an action flick.

Was this a good use of a night with the house to myself? : Yeah. Mom couldn't have been near it, and Dad might have been just as disappointed as I was. No use wasting a Guy Movie Night on a "meh" movie.

In the End: 3 out of 5 stars. ...mainly 'cause of Bruce Willis.
