Summary:
Rating: PG
Could I have watched this with my Dad? : Sure.
Could I have watched this with my Mom? : Absolutely.
Language: Nope.
Sex/Romance: A small amount of romance.
Violence/Gore: None.
Music: I really appreciated that they created all new music but left a tribute to the original in the credits.
Did I feel the need to leave the lights off and sit in silence afterwards? : No, not that kind of movie.
Was there a food pairing? : Yes, stir fry for dinner and then leftover pancakes with syrup and white chocolate chips for dessert. The stir fry was tasty, but the pancakes were a little distracting (you try not dripping syrup on yourself while watching a movie!).
Thoughts: I HATE change, like really super HATE. IT. So I was opposed to watching this movie for quite a while, but I am glad I finally warmed up to it. I enjoyed the movie, and I liked that they didn't try to just remake the original but instead brought original characters, music, storyline, and a view of Mary Poppins that stayed true to the original and yet managed to modernize her a bit at the same time.
Was this a good use of a night with the house to myself? : Yeah.
In the End: 4 out of 5 stars. Not as catchy as the original, but still a fun night!
