Rim of the World

Summary:

Rating: TV-14

Could I have watched this with my Dad? : Yeah, and I bet he would like it.

Could I have watched this with my Mom? : Probably not.

Language: Yes, strong and sexual.

Sex/Romance: Really gross making out, a touch of childhood romance, a lot of very strong sexual innuendo.

Violence/Gore: Yes and yes.

Music: I loved the music for this film! They didn't just go all action movie, adrenaline-pumping, all the time. The music incorporated the aspects of action/adventure, summer camp, and childhood innocence/coming of age, and I loved it.

Did I feel the need to leave the lights off and sit in silence afterwards? : Naw.

Was there a food pairing? : Yes, leftover spaghetti that was lukewarm and super messy. A bit distracting, honestly.

Thoughts: For only a TV-14 rating I was really surprised at the level of language and sexual innuendo. Especially for children, the main characters seemed really foul-mouthed, and the character of Dariush especially was extremely sexual. However, the friendships depicted were sweet and well developed throughout the film. My main issue (besides the language and sexual stuff) was that pretty much every dangerous encounter was a close call, so you quickly go numb to it. I felt that that detracted from the adventure. Otherwise it was a fun film that I really enjoyed!

Was this a good use of a night with the house to myself? : Absolutely!

In the End: 3 out of 5 stars (I think the aliens blew up a couple)
