Space Sweepers

Summary:

Rating: TV-MA

Could I have watched this with my Dad? : Yes.

Could I have watched this with my Mom? : Possibly.

Language: Yes, a fair amount of f-bombs and some other miscellaneous language.

Sex/Romance: No sex, but a slight, (mainly one-sided) romance.

Violence/Gore: Yes, there is a fair amount of violence, but minimal gore. I actually took notice of how often they forcefully avoided showing any blood.

Music: It seemed to jump back and forth a bit between intense action/drama score, and light-hearted whimsical bop-alongs.

Did I feel the need to leave the lights off and sit in silence afterward? : No.

Was there a food pairing? : Yes, some leftovers that were a bit hard to eat when I couldn't ever take my eyes off the screen. (Between reading the captions and near-non-stop action, it was difficult. I would take a bite and then have to go back 10 seconds.)

Thoughts: I absolutely loved having a powerful woman in charge, especially without her being super sexualized. She is fully clothed and remains that way with no unnecessarily skimpy coverage.

I loved the universal translators.

About halfway through I was going, man, I know I recognize this guy from somewhere! So I paused the movie to look him up and ended up screeching RICHARD ARMITAGE?!?!!! THAT'S FRIKKIN RICHARD ARMITAGE?!?!!!!

There were a few small plot holes/oddities.

All of the characters were unique, fun, and had wonderful backstories.

Was this a good use of a night with the house to myself? : Yes!

In the End: 4 out of 5 stars. A fun movie with unique characters, a riveting plot, and ok yeah maybe I got a little teary-eyed, what's it to ya?
