Summary:
Rating: R
Could I have watched this with my Mom? : No way, Jose.
Language: So much language. So much of the f-word in practically every variation. And just so. much. language. It really seemed excessive and unnecessary.
Sex/Romance: Yes. Really gross. Scenes with losing virginity, hand jobs, a lot of talk and jokes about male parts, sex and sexual actions, etc. Honestly just really gross.
Violence/Gore: If you count punching someone in the butt repeatedly, then yes.
Did I feel the need to leave the lights off and sit in silence afterwards? : Wow, so not that kind of movie. We didn't even watch it with the lights off.
Was there a food pairing? : Yes. We both ate re-heated tortellini, and I spiced up my dinner with a ginger ale poured into a wine glass to feel fancy. The tortellini dried out a bit in the re-heating, but the ginger ale was delicious and bubbly.
Thoughts: This movie was a lot of fun, and I did laugh a lot throughout, but the excessive language and crude jokes just seemed so unnecessary. They added nothing, didn't really seem in character, just felt forced in anywhere they would semi-fit, and honestly just made everything uncomfortable. Also I definitely thought Isla Fisher was Amy Adams. Rocked my world when I checked IMDB.
Was this a good use of a night with just Dad? : I don't know, maybe.
In the End: 2 out of 5 stars. For me, the humor was overshadowed by the excessive language and sex jokes.
