The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

Final Summary:

Total Hours to Read: Just under 7 ½

--Average pages per minute: 1.18

Sex/Romance: Some romance and a couple intimations of prostitution, sleeping around, and infidelity.

Language: Nothing caught my attention.

Violence: Mention of cannibalism. War. Deaths, killings, some pretty gory death displays, and some gore in killing as well.

Thoughts: I liked it. It was very interesting to see what is basically Snow's origin story. At times the turns he took felt a bit forced, demented and without reason even. But, when you look at his past trauma, his "mentors" and authority figures, and the ideals he grew up with, it makes more sense.

I liked the insights in Snow's character and the knowledge of where he is coming from when we finally get to see him in the main trilogy.

In the end: 4 out of 5 stars. Maybe not fascinating, but certainly enlightening.
