Language: A fair amount of mild language (s**t, d**n, etc.) and one flip of the bird.
Sex/Romance: No sex. There is meant to be some romance, but nothing ever feels romantic, and the special connections between characters are never stated so it's just awkward and mostly obscured in subtext.
Violence/Gore: Plenty of violence, not as much gore.
Music: Great vibes with a couple attention grabbers.
Thoughts: This is going to be very quick as I was unable to separate the movie from the book and as such this was very upsetting to watch.
On a book-to-bad-movie-conversion scale ranging from "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" to "World War Z," this movie came closer to "World War Z" in that it would be quicker and easier by far to list the similarities between the book and movie than the differences.
I had no clue where the story was going, even though I had read the book, because they immediately strayed so far from the original story.
And of course one of the big changes they made was the almost total elimination of the female maze group. They barely had a presence, and then the girls that were focused on were almost immediately put into caretaker roles.
For someone who read the books, a total disappointment.
If you can separate yourself from the book or never read the book, then it is probably a way more entertaining movie.
In the End: 1 out of 5 stars for the book to movie conversion.
My dad (who hasn't read the books) gave this movie 3.5 out of 5 stars and said it was a fun watch.
