Thoughts: Another quick read from my bookshelves (AKA a re-read). A good follow-up book to "The Cay." I enjoyed learning more about the two main characters' history and what happened after. This book isn't really worth reading, though, unless you read "The Cay" and want to know some more. Obviously, this book also discussed issues of race and racial enmity, but it wasn't very heavy-handed. At one point I felt like the author had done a ton of research on topics for the book and couldn't find a way to use it but didn't want it to go to waste so he just shoved all the information into the chapters, but I could've just been grumpy because I had read through my lunch hour instead of eating... Even still, the book was interesting and informative and pulled my heartstrings in the end.
In the end: 3 out of 5 stars.
